This week, we had a pickup from a hospital where we’d never been before: Palo Pinto Hospital in Mineral Wells. To say that we were unsure about how this would go was an understatement: neither of us had ever been there and we didn’t know anyone who had taken their placenta home from this hospital.
Mid-morning, we got a call letting us know that baby had arrived (hooray!) and our medical courier headed out to pick up the placenta. There was a short delay when the courier arrived while the parents filled out the release form and the courier made sure the placenta was well iced, and then the drive back began! Our courier Robin kept us buzzing with updates – she is one of our favorite Dropoff couriers because as a mom herself, she knows how important that this decision is to our clients.
About two hours after the baby was born, the placenta was at our workspace and we began processing it immediately. It was ready the next day and was returned via FedEx to arrive just about 48 hours after baby was born.
Mineral Wells is a neat city to visit, and my family enjoys going there on weekends because there is a fun public fossil dig site. Next time we’re there, I’m going to stop by Palo Pinto Hospital to say a huge thank you for how kind and helpful they were to our client. It’s always great to be able to tell clients to expect a great experience from their hospital, and I’m thrilled to say that our very first client from Palo Pinto County had nothing but the best!
